Get Off My (Public) Lawn!

I’m sure that most if not all of you have seen this story. It’s amazing to me that cities and towns do not yet seem to understand that government is prohibited from promoting any single religion in the public space. Why do they keep trying and why does someone have to complain about it before any action is taken?

Of course, I’m sure we’ll all be hearing more about this incident. It must be The War on Christmas! In fact it’s actually following the original intent of the founders that the government not endorse any one religion over another. That’s what they meant in the First Amendment by “freedom of religion”. People may worship as they like and government will not promote one over another.

The same people that whine about this are the same that complain about Christianity being banned in countries where Islam is the state religion. I guess they wouldn’t mind so much if the state religion were Christianity.

They’re also pleased that President-Elect Trump is going to nominate “originalist” justices to the Supreme Court. I wonder if they realize that that means “Constitutuial Originalists” and not “Biblical Originalists”? You never know.

I’m not offended when people want to display religious symbols on their personal property only when they have the hubris to believe they can on property that belongs to all the people, of every religion, or no religion.

Maybe one day they’ll all learn that their religion is not the state religion, no matter how much they want to believe it.
